Will a small in-ground gunite pool cost less?

When it comes to in-ground pool prices, small is a relative term. For a truly small pool—meaning less than average size—size could make a small difference for material and labor costs. That’s because basic, minimum construction costs are nearly the same for all average sizes of gunite pools.

No matter the pool’s dimensions, a builder will have minimum base costs for the various tradesmen needed to visit the job site and perform each construction phase.

For example, a small pool—say 12-ft. wide by 20-ft. long (approximately 65-foot perimeter)—will cost approximately 90 percent as much as the same shape pool that’s 16-ft. x 32-ft. (approximately 80-foot perimeter).
